What Is Stuck Porn?
Lauren Phillips is stuck inside a washing machine. Well, it's really just her top half caught in the infernal device. Her stepchildren—who look suspiciously older than she does—walk in on their stepmother's butt haphazardly sticking out of the washer.
"It's like the 20th time you've gotten stuck in there," the guy says—I think his name is Codey, but it's really quite irrelevant to the plot. Rather than help, they decide to take advantage of the situation by keeping their firmly immovable stepmother stuck in the washing machine.
"What did I do to deserve stepchildren like this?"
It's not hard to guess where events go from here, right? The video is one of the many "stuck porn" scenes posted across likely as many sites, including Adult Time's Go Stuck Yourself—a channel exclusively creating content revolving around the tagline: "Getting stuck is never fun. Well...ALMOST never."
What is stuck porn, exactly?
This budding fantasy blurs the line between fantasy and reality, often resorting to purposely cheesy methods to get their stars stuck under tables and beds, inside sleeping bags, in kitchen sinks, in window frames and—of course—inside the washer. Often overlapping with topics like incest, stuck porn is one of the many taboo genres gaining momentum online right now.
The idea stems from a growing interest in a larger genre/kink that some call "ravishment," in which consent is portrayed in an ambiguous light. There's even a thriving Reddit community for stuck porn (69,000 members and counting) with links to hundreds of videos featuring stuck women (and occasionally men) having sex with their decidedly un-stuck friends and family members.
How did this popular genre come to be and why does it apparently resonate with so many people? What does forced stuck porn say about porn itself?
"I hope it says porn is moving in a direction that doesn't take itself so seriously," said Rachel Zar, LMFT, CST, with Spark Chicago Therapy. "It's so cool when a new genre of porn pops up because it shows how creative humans can be, and what it means is that people are responding to it, right? They don't keep making videos if people don't like them. What I'm getting from the stuck porn genre is this frivolity and fun and roleplay that's quite frankly just really silly. It's adults playing, which is what sex can and should be."
Stuck porn is nothing new
While stuck porn itself could be considered a new genre, it's built on popular pornography tropes and taboo trends like the stepparent fantasy, dubious consent (in which consent is implied, not explicitly said out loud) and in the aforementioned ravishment.
"We tend to say 'ravishment' as opposed to saying, like 'rape fantasy,' because rape is rape and we don't want to put rape into porn," Zar continued. "What's important to remember about porn is that these are performers—actors—and everything they're doing in that video is acting."
Zar added that as long as you're sourcing porn ethically—that is, you're paying for it—and not hurting anyone in the process, there's no real harm in indulging yourself in stepmom stuck videos—like the Lauren Phillips, Codey Steele, Vanna Bardot thriller "Mom's Stuck in the Washer Again."
"My favorite part is acting stuck in the scene," adult performer Lauren Phillips said. "I think it's so popular because of the vulnerability and submissiveness of the person. I know I like that."
Part of the appeal also comes down to the position itself.
"When I was younger, I got stuck having sex in a car," Phillips continued. "I was like a modern-day damsel in distress."
Phillips, who's been in the adult entertainment industry since 2014, views this genre as a product of an industry flush with money, resources and a devoted audience.
Lay out the ground rules for stuck porn
There's no definitive time as to when stuck porn first appeared in PornHub tags, but the genre plays off of fantasies existing in porn since its inception, like those that blur the lines of consent. When exploring stuck porn as a kink, Zar insisted on laying out the type of ground rules that make for a healthy sexual experience. This involves being open and honest with your partner on likes and dislikes, agreeing on a safeword together, talking about boundaries and an understanding that what you're doing is all part of a fantasy where you're in control.
"I think if it's pleasurable and everybody wants to do it, go for it," Zar said. "It's absolutely healthy. This is true with any kink or really with any sexual activity—it's important to talk about the consent issue, right? Just as with actors, you want to make sure that if you're acting out a scene on your own, you've had a conversation about what's going to happen, where everybody's boundaries are when you're acting out a scene, and a clear word that means 'slow down,' 'reset' or 'stop.'"
