The Best Positions for Anal Sex: Expert Edition

How you engage in anal sex can make a big difference in your enjoyment. Some positions allow face-to-face intimacy or additional access to the genitals. Some depend on height. Some need props. (Sex toys can take anal sex to the next level, but we'll save those for another article.)

Preparation

Bulldog

An intense take on doggy style, B gets on hands and knees, and A crouches over them, balancing on the balls of their feet and fists/fingertips.

Deep impact

B lies on their back, legs bent up 90 degrees toward the ceiling (they can rest on A's chest/shoulders). A sits down on their knees and enters B. They may need to lift B's butt up a bit, so this may require some arm and quad strength by A.

Barstool

This one requires a prop. B sits on a medium-high barstool with their butt over the edge, and A, who is standing, enters from behind. Also called high chair.

On their back, B tucks their legs toward their chest, moving into the happy baby yoga pose, allowing A to lower down and enter.

Seesaw

A sits on their butt, legs outstretched, arms just behind them, pushing into the floor. B lowers down on top, facing and straddling their partner, arms behind, pushing off of A's legs. This requires balance and strength, but allows you to be face-to-face.

Squat & press

B is positioned in a squat with their butt hanging over the edge of a bed or other surface that gives their hands something to push off of for support (and to get the movement going). A enters from behind, standing on the floor.

Backdoor lotus

A sits cross-legged, and B sits down slowly on top of them, face-to-face, with legs wrapped around A's back. This is an intense and very intimate position.
