More about this episode
Actors Zac Efron & Donna D'errico open up about their struggles with body image. Donna D'Errico was part of the hit TV series Baywatch and is known for her perfect pin up looks. She recently faced backlash from online trolls after she posted a photo on her Instagram in a tiny bikini that they felt she was told old to wear. At 54 years old, Donna wanted to show the world that you can embrace your body at any age.
In an interview with Men's Health, actor Zac Efton opened up about the extreme methods it took to achieve a perfect body for his role in the Baywatch film reboot. He resorted to medications such as diuretics, which cause the body to eliminate water and lose weight. Possible side effects of diuretics include frequent urination, sodium loss, dizziness, headaches, dehydration, muscle cramps, joint disorders like gout and impotence. It took the actor six months after filming to combat the side effects and feel normal again. Efron today embraces what he now calls a fit dad bod.

Actress Donna D'Errico was part of one of the sexiest casts ever in the hit TV series Baywatch. And despite her perfect pin up looks, Donna is just as sensitive about body issues as the rest of us, saying, "I could pose for photos and manage to look smoldering, but in real life, I'm very self-conscious." At 54 years old, Donna wanted to show the world that you can embrace your body at any age.
She recently posted a picture on her Instagram account sporting a tiny bikini. But unfortunately, some trolls felt the need to call out the former playmate as being too old to wear a bikini and that it made her look desperate. Donna punched back on her Instagram page, stating, "I can actually wear and do literally whatever I want. On that note, here is me in a bikini squatting on a coffee table."
Also, Donna is not the only star from Baywatch struggling with body issues. Actor Zac Efron does, too. Having grown up in front of the camera, the former Disney star is used to being judged by his looks. As part of the Baywatch film reboot, Efron solidified his status as a Hollywood hunk by showing off his chiseled physique. In a recent interview with Men's Health, Zac opened up about how he never wants to go back to the extreme methods it took to achieve that lifeguard body again. And he believes no one should ever even try it. "The picture perfect body came at the price of diuretics, overtraining, poor sleep and the same three meals every day. I started to develop insomnia, he said in the interview, and I fell into a pretty bad depression for a long time."
He resorted to medications such as diuretics, which cause the body to eliminate water and lose weight. But again, Efron has made it clear that these medications may not be worth the risk. Possible side effects of diuretics include frequent urination, sodium loss, dizziness, headaches, dehydration, muscle cramps, joint disorders like gout and impotence.
It took the actor six months after filming to combat the side effects and feel normal again. In the Men's Health interview, Zac also said he wants people to know that he ruined his own health working towards that body goal. Efron today embraces what he now calls a fit dad bod. Moving forward, he is looking for deeper transformations not in his body, but within his career.
