I started to develop insomnia, he said in the interview, and I fell into a pretty bad depression for a long time."

He resorted to medications such as diuretics, which cause the body to eliminate water and lose weight. But again, Efron has made it clear that these medications may not be worth the risk. Possible side effects of diuretics include frequent urination, sodium loss, dizziness, headaches, dehydration, muscle cramps, joint disorders like gout and impotence.

It took the actor six months after filming to combat the side effects and feel normal again. In the Men's Health interview, Zac also said he wants people to know that he ruined his own health working towards that body goal. Efron today embraces what he now calls a fit dad bod. Moving forward, he is looking for deeper transformations not in his body, but within his career.
